Amazing kid-friendly things to do in Sydney

Children – and their parents - will love Sydney’s many parks and beachside reserves with lots of open space to run wild in. And while there are plenty of enticing attractions in the city, lots of activities are free. Youngsters can kick a ball in a park, climb trees, swim in an ocean pool or spot whales from a coastal lookout.

Pack a picnic hamper and lunch on Bondi Beach or in the Royal Botanic Garden beside Sydney Harbour. Take a ferry at Circular Quay and cross the harbour to some of the city’s top attractions, such as Luna Park and Taronga Zoo.

In the city centre, the Sydney Tower Eye’s outdoor Skywalk will thrill children aged eight and older with its 360-degree views. At Darling Harbour, kids can get close to furry native animals and sharks at WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo and SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium.

Join the kids aboard a replica sailing ship or explore a submarine together at the Australian National Maritime Museum in Darling Harbour.

Beyond Sydney, you’ll find wonderful beaches and national parks to explore. From May to November, whale watching is popular on the south and north coasts. For a thrilling ride, hop aboard Scenic World Blue Mountains’ suspended cable car, which crosses a steep gorge.
