About Jervis Bay
Jervis Bay is popular for watching dolphins and whales. The marine park on the South Coast of NSW is a home to bottlenose dolphins, seals, penguins and sea birds. During the annual whale migration, from May to November, whales visit the sanctuary.
The shoreline is blessed with powdery white beaches and the crystal-clear waters are ideal for scuba diving, snorkelling and swimming. Day tours depart from Sydney to Jervis Bay or choose from various accommodation options in the area including camping, caravan parks and hotels.
The delightful town of Huskisson in Jervis Bay is rich with shipbuilding history and the place where you’ll find dolphin and whale-watching cruises such as Jervis Bay Wild Cruises and Dolphin Watch Cruises Jervis Bay. You can also charter boats for a deep-sea fishing adventure. Huskisson is about three hours’ drive south of Sydney.
Bordering the marine park is Booderee National Park, rich with Aboriginal heritage. The park is an excellent location for swimming, bushwalking and birdwatching. There are also several picnic spots within the park. On the headlands you may see humpback, southern right and minke whales.
Beaches such as Hyams Beach are famous for their fine white sands and are great for swimming, kayaking, fishing, stand-up paddleboarding and boating. Follow the idyllic White Sands Walk past secluded bays and inlets and perhaps even spot colourful rosellas or lorikeets along the way.
